Associate Professor Stefan Baron has been working for the Medical University of Silesia for many years. For over 20 years he has been conducting research on temporomandibular joint disorders. He has written tens of scientific papers, most of which dealing with pain treatment, diagnosis and treatment of temporomandibular disorders. He has gained the second level of specialisation in dental prosthetics. For 5 years he has been in charge of the Temporomandibular Disorders & Headache Treatment Centre, which he founded in Gliwice. The centre employs a team of specialists in orthodontics, dental prosthetics, psychology and neurology. From 1988 to 1994 he gained work experience in implant prosthetics, gnatology and temporomandibular disorders treatment while doing his post-graduation practice in Eindhoven, Utrecht, and Neinmegen. In 1992, he was one of the first to introduce, in his dental practice, implantological treatment as a standard procedure in tooth loss treatment. Since October 2004 he has been head of the Department and Unit of Temporomandibular Disorders at the Medical University of Silesia. For many years he was chairman, and is now deputy chairman of the Silesian Office of the Polish Society of Dentistry. He also holds the post of deputy chairman of the Polish Society of Temporomandibular
Disorders.
